================================================================================
The complete C64 music collection Jens-Christian Huus
================================================================================
Tunes in NewPlayer v15 - v20, 1990-1992.
This directory contains the rest of the music I packed and released as demo
tunes before stopping all C64 activities in 1992. I managed to make a few game
tracks for SilverRock and Domark, but all in all, the amount of game tracks
was disappointing. Very sad, since this meant a lot to me. In 1992, I put
myself into a minor musical crisis where I wondered if composing music really
was what I was meant to do. This made me stop all composing only to be kept
alive on my Korg M1, playing from 1992 to 1995. In 1995 I am trying to do some
tunes in FastTracker II on the PC, but I can feel that I should never have
stopped my musical activities...
================================================================================
CAVEMAN.DAT Caveman
Another cooperation between Morten Sigaard Kristensen and I.
There are some funny leader instruments in this one - if you
have the patience to listen to it...
CHMERANG.DAT Chimerang
A very long and samey tune, made for diskmagazines. After
about 3 minutes of play the tune changes. Listen to the ring
modulation leader from 04:39 - this is the best part.
CHORDIAN.DAT Chordian
A bombastic tune where I use ring modulation to the fullest.
One of my favourites. This tune was sent to a guy in England
who promised to use it in a game with credits by Vibrants.
However, it seems as if he liked it soo much that he put his
very own credits on the game...
COOPS_UP.DAT Coops Ups
Here Morten Sigaard Kristensen managed to make most of the tune
and then "invited" me to do the solo in the end of it. However,
the solo didn't really fit very well to the tune.
CRWDNOIS.DAT Crowdnoise
The last sound I ever did on the C64, made July 1992. At that
time I had been away from the C64 for months, playing around
with the PC - however, a guy in "Pretzel Logic" said he needed
a crowdnoise effect, so I did it. The demo he worked on was
AFAIK never released. This sound should be heard with full
filtering, something that is not available in SidPlay at the
time of writing this.
EUROWOOD.DAT Eurowood
Another sound effect. Drax made most of it but was not sure how
he would emulate the bird noises, so I helped him out.
GOING_UP.DAT Going Up
A short introtune. I later made a better arrangement on the
keyboard using the leader from 00:15. Maybe someday I will bong
this into a PC tracker.
HAWAII.DAT Hawaii
A very long tune containing one of the longest solo parts I
have ever done in a tune. The bassline and drums were originally
made by Morten Sigaard Kristensen, but in the end I "raped" it
so much that it virtually became my own work. The solo part
starts at 01:39. Notice how the tune decays in the end - this
was very unusual for a C64 song in general.
HEAVYHIT.DAT Heavy Hit
Short, "end-of-level-monster"-like tune made in a compromise
player which took VERY little rastertime.
HOLLYWD.DAT Hollywood
A sad "she-is-dead" film-like tune. I still like this tune very
much - it is samey, but it builds up just right.
HOOONING.DAT Hooooning
Conversion of a commercial on TV for OTA "guldkorn", a breakfast
thing like cornflakes. It was to be used on the game of the
same name, but the programmer ran out of memory space on the
game cartridge. I believe the conversion is quite accurate.
HURRICAN.DAT Hurricane
Experimental tune testing the speed changing abilities of the
new player v18. The change happens at 00:15.
KNAKDICK.DAT Knackdick
The only real cooperation tune released by Drax and I. I must
admit however, that Drax made about 85% of the tune! ;) The
tune is quite varied and well worth listening to.
LADYLISA.DAT Lady Lisa
This tune was composed and then put on ice, only to be packed
and released at a much later date.
MISJUDGE.DAT Misjudge
The second of the three tunes I did in the compromise player
v19 which takes very little rastertime. Can you hear that this
player in fact doesn't have a vibrato routine? :)
MNIAXION.DAT Maniaxion
Cute little introtune.
NINJACK.DAT Ninjackie
Either this one or "Maniaxion" (I can't remember which) was
used on the titlescreen of a game by Domark.
POLICE.DAT Police
Another old tune put on ice only to be released much later. It
was composed in a very fast speed setting.
REVENGE.DAT Revenge
Here I deliberately tried to put together a lot of chords in
a song that shifts in and out of the minor and major scales.
SCANLINE.DAT Scanliner
First tune done in the compromise player v19. As mentioned
before, this player has no vibrato routine at all.
STRIKE_F.DAT Strike Force
Conversion of the old Strike Force introtune - originally
composed by "Diflex". I tried to be fair to the atmosphere
of the original introtune.
TERMANAL.DAT Termianal
A short cooperation between Morten Sigaard Kristensen and I.
As usual he did the bass and drums and I did the leader and
chords.
TESTTUNE.DAT Playertest
As the name suggests a test of the miscellaneous functions in
the new player v20, like speed- and puls programming test. This
tune was of course never spread.
TRIANG1.DAT Triangle1
Attempt at making the SID chip say "Triangle" using ring
modulation in three voices. Judge by yourself if you think
I succeded! ;) There are three attempts in all.
TRIANG2.DAT Triangle2
TRIANG3.DAT Triangle3
